More than 118 proposals to reform the country's electoral laws have been collected by the legislative commission that is making progress in reforming these legal instruments, said Luis Eduardo Martínez, the deputy to the National Assembly (AN) for the opposition and member of this body.
“There are endless proposals, which are enriched every time these consultations are made, many of the proposals agree,” Martínez said from Anzoátegui state, where he participated in a meeting to consult on the reform of electoral laws.
In this regard, he stressed that among the proposals that have been highlighted the most are those related to the award of regional and national parliamentarians in order to achieve a better balance in representation.
“We are convinced that as long as the votes of Venezuelans are exactly reflected in the deliberative bodies, it will be better for everyone,” he stressed, while stressing the need to promote gender parity in the deliberative bodies that will be elected in 2025.
Martínez also indicated that the above-mentioned legislative body is giving priority to the partial reform of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes and “to the full development of articles 130 and 131 of the National Constitution.”
“There is a unanimous conviction about the need to establish a sanctioning regime. Enough of impunity, enough for a few to permanently disturb the peace that we all deserve. It is enough that without a fuss they attack the institutions of the Republic, which is why the importance of the work we have been doing is important. The sanctioning regime must ensure that no one is safe when criminal acts occur that threaten the stability of the Republic,” he said.
