This Wednesday, numerous social organizations surrounded the Argentine Congress, which woke up fenced and with a strong police presence as a prelude to a special session in the lower house that will address crucial issues.

The mobilization is in addition to the traditional demonstration of retirees who have been calling for a long time every Wednesday against Javier Milei's neoliberal measures.

The retirement reform law sanctioned by Congress and vetoed by Milei last Monday proposed an emergency increase of 7.2%, created a permanent bond of 110,000 pesos and established transfers to untransferred provincial pension funds.

At least seven detainees were registered last Wednesday during the retirees' march to Congress, where there were incidents, struggles and pushes between demonstrators and security forces.

The session, requested by the opposition, will deal with, among other things, the laws on Financing University Education and Recomposing the Teacher's Salary; the declaration of a pediatric health emergency and an emergency zone in natural disaster zones - rejected by the Executive; and the Brain Health Promotion Act.
