The first medals for Venezuela in the South American, Pan-American Weight Championship and first qualifier for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games were awarded by Mariangeli Martínez, who captured four gold and two silver medals on the first day of the tournaments held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The under-23 and adult national champion was proclaimed in both starting (76 kg) and total (176 kg) tournaments, and finished second in the two-stroke category (100 kg), where she equaled Brazil's Emili Figueiredo, according to the specialized press.

The competitions continue this Thursday with the participation of Ivanis Silva and Katherin Echandia (53), Wilkeinner Lugo (65) and Yillihanys Jiménez (57); Friday will be the turn of Julio Mayora and Reinner Arango (75), and Claudia Rengifo (69 kg); on Saturday Ángel Rodríguez (85), Keily Silva (77) and Keydomar Vallenilla (95) come down the curtain; and on Sunday Jeyson Arias and Mauricio Loaiza (110) and Luis Espinosa (+110) come down to the platform).
