The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, announced the creation of the campaign: Extortion is not negotiated, it is reported; in response to the changes that this crime has presented.

“We have seen how this crime has mutated, and it has sought to transcend and attack ordinary citizens, ordinary citizens, people of good will who fall into the hands of these extortionists.”

In addition, at a press conference, he specified that in the last seven years, 36 corruption schemes linked to the oil industry have been investigated, “in which 307 people have been prosecuted and 76 have been convicted.”

With regard to the purge of the Public Prosecutor's Office, to date, 453 prosecutors have been prosecuted, “in total we have charged 21,871 people and have obtained 6,025 convictions.

He said that since his arrival at the institution “we have managed to charge 2,707 people linked, unfortunately, to human rights violations”, of which 3,500 have been accused; “1,096 have been deprived of liberty and we have obtained 662 people convicted”.

On the other hand, he indicated that at least 10 criminal gangs have been dismantled, and “there are 242 detainees, 187 pressure orders, 35 convicted and 113 red alerts requested.”

Saab questioned the inoperability of the institution that guarantees criminal action during the fourth republic, while reiterating the commitment of the Bolivarian Revolution to caring for victims.
