From the Paseo La Marina Coastal Belt, in the state of La Guaira, the Bishop of the Diocese of La Guaira officiated the traditional Blessing of the Sea, this Easter Sunday.
The Catholic spiritual leader prayed for the fishermen of La Guaira, as well as thanking the creator for the fruits that are harvested from the sea and that serve to feed the people, and for the safety of the men and women who cross the seas and guard our borders.
The Blessing of the Sea marks the beginning of Easter, which means that day when God indicated where and how to fish for men, when the storm of the Sea of Galilee calmed down. Celebrating Easter involves committing to living a new life and breaking out of the circle of resentment and hatred.
The religious event was attended by José Alejandro Terán, governor of the entity, the Fishermen's Council, military and civil authorities, the Guairian people, as well as the representation of the 27 church parishes that live on the Guaire coast, as well as the Missionaries of the region and parish priests that comprise the Diocese of La Guaira, and the parishioners .
