The Bolivarian Government, through the mayor's office of the Girardot municipality, is making progress in the restoration of the Cathedral of Maracay, Aragua state.
“With this work, we are giving it the majesty of what our cathedral represents for that spiritual and family encounter of the Maracayeros and Maracayeras, but in addition to the patrimonial value of this structure,” said Mayor Rafael Morales.
The work of beautifying this important space for the Catholic faith has been carried out in several areas both internal and external, highlighting the restoration and modernization of the main altar, Morales said.
Meanwhile, the architect José Pulido, in charge of this restoration project, explained that the cathedral of Maracay, inaugurated in 1701, has been a symbol of the city for 323 years, added that this new altar seeks to reflect this history by incorporating traditional and modern elements, using durable materials such as marble, quartz and bronze, and he also assured that this approach seeks to create a representative altar that will last in the collective memory of Maracayeros and visitors.
Likewise, the mayor of Girardot mentioned that to materialize this work, the participation of the national, regional and municipal governments was involved, in addition to the support of the deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra; Vice President of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the PSUV, who has accompanied and supervised this restoration.
Finally, Morales emphasized the “Heritage Route” that he has been developing throughout his administration, with the recovery of important works such as the Acoustic Shell, Madre María de San José Boulevard, Perez Almarza Boulevard, and currently the Maracay Cathedral, “in the month of March we will deliver the Casa de los Arcos, which will be the library and museum of our city, the Maestranza César Girón, then we will start the Main Market project, with this we would close that first cycle of our city's Heritage Route”, said the mayor of the jurisdiction.
