The Bolivarian Government, through the Sectorial Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, is deployed in Puerto de Nutria, Barinas state, to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains of the last few hours and to activate an immediate action plan to guarantee the safety and well-being of its inhabitants as soon as possible.

On the Instagram account of the Sectorial Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, the head of this instance, Jorge Márquez, reported that “we have carried out an uprising and we are already taking the first contingency action, which is to break what is serving as #dique so that the water that is dammed in the town can move”.

In addition, in its account on the same social network, the Ministry of People's Power for Transportation, specified that the sectoral vice-president of Public Works and Minister of People's Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for Housing and Habitat, Jorge Marcos, and the governor of Barinas, Adán Chávez, were present in the area.

“Here we are together with a single team to deal with this emergency as a result of historic rains, which had not been recorded since 1996,” said Velásquez Araguayán.

He explained that “to face this crisis, we must first evaluate the emergency and then that we already have it, we are going to take action, which is to break this stretch of road to facilitate the drainage of the waters that are upstream, where the town of Puerto Nutria is located. Well, we're still in battle here.”

These actions are part of the “Andes 2025" Task Force, an instance of logistical support aimed at providing timely attention to the impact of the rains, under a framework of coordination between the National, Regional and Municipal Governments and the People's Power.
