The National Center for Optical Technologies (CNTO) of the Center for Research Foundation for Astronomy and Applied Technologies (Cidata) has completed the manufacture of Keplerian telescopes and geometric optics kits, which will strengthen the learning of astronomical sciences in the country.

Dr. Gilmar Perdomo, head of the CNTO, explained that this project aimed to manufacture 500 Keplerian telescopes and 100 geometric optics kits. The kits, according to a note from the Ministry of Science and Technology, consist of six pieces: four lenses (a biconcave lens, a biconvex lens, a flat convex lens, and a circular lens) and two prisms; a rectangular one and a Dove prism (a trapezoid).

Perdomo indicated that, in addition, it is planned to manufacture more equipment, which is key to the study of astronomy in educational institutions .

“We are very happy to be able to give you these teaching tools made in Venezuela by Venezuelans,” he said.
