The Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Menry Fernández Pereira, announced the start of the Binational Agroecological Project of La Vergareña in the state of Bolívar, with the purpose of promoting and consolidating the new Venezuelan production model.
Fernández explained that this binational project, framed in the dream of Commander Hugo Chávez and promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, seeks the development of the peasant people, from a different vision of seeing agriculture with a social commitment to work.
From the San Francisco parish, Bolivarian Angostura municipality, in Bolivar, the minister indicated that this project has a vision that has to do with the protection of nature, which is agroecology, and also with training for the community.
Fernández pointed out that a multidisciplinary team is working on this project to advance the agroecological project. “A combat team was formed consisting of the Ministries of Productive Agriculture and Lands; of Communes; for Indigenous Peoples; Bolivarian National Militia; Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the companions of the Landless Movement (MST) of Brazil,” he explained, as reported by the Press of the Ministry of Agriculture.
For his part, the Presidential Commissioner for the Binational Agroecological Project of La Vergareña, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, explained that “this project advances the development plans that our country needs, not only for us as Venezuelans but for sister peoples, and this experience that will emerge must be a reference and model for other peoples of the continent.”
“The difficulties observed in the place have been collected in order to be addressed progressively and to work under the experience of our colleagues from the MST, our technical teams and the people to build a work plan and methodology,” said Castro Soteldo.
