The governor of the state of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez, reported that traffic was restored on highway 343 in the Boconó municipality, the only sector where there was a landslide and announced that the almost 200 landslides recorded in Campo Elías have already been cleared.

During a telephone call on the Al Aire program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Márquez indicated that comprehensive care is maintained for affected communities through health operations, food supply and delivery of clothing and footwear. He also stressed that school activity has not been interrupted.

Regarding the productive axes, he reported that the road between Boconó and La Mesita is suitable for transporting crops destined for traditional markets. He added that access between Campo Elías and Biscucuy, one of the most important coffee growing areas in the country, was also reactivated.

Márquez mentioned that in the La Puerta sector, connected to the state of Mérida by the trans-Andean highway, alternative passages were set up after the main road was obstructed. This measure has allowed the transfer of products from the Páramo.

He also reported progress in the recovery of the road to Timotes, and specified that in La Mesa de Esnujaque, traffic has already been restored after removal work.

The regional president assured that, in coordination with local and national authorities, joint work is being carried out to normalize road conditions affected by the rains.
