The Bolivarian Navy inaugurated the Cabo Negro lighthouse, located in the state of Nueva Esparta, as part of the strategic plan for strengthening the national maritime signaling infrastructure.

The structure consists of a metal lattice-like tower with a square section and 15 meters high, whose installation required precision topographic and geotechnical studies, opening of temporary roads, rock excavation and the emptying of reinforced concrete foundations. The work also includes a path with the image of the Virgin of the Valley, patron saint of the sailors and fishermen of the island region.

In addition, the commissioning of this building provides coverage and safety to vessels that transit through the eastern sector of Margarita Island, the north of the Venezuelan territory and the routes to the west of the coasts, which promotes the economic and commercial development of the country.
