Brayan Rincones and Wilkwinner Lugo win gold medals for Venezuela in South American Junior Weightlifting

Venezuelans Brayan Rincones and Wilkwinner Lugo have two more gold medals for their country on the second day of the 2025 Junior and Senior South American Weightlifting Championship, which takes place at the “César Cordero Moscoso” Coliseum in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Rincones won the gold medal in the starting mode in the 71 kg senior men's division, lifting 141 kg. The Ecuadorian Jair Reyes with 140 kg won the silver medal and the Colombian Luis Cano with 135 kg the bronze medal.

In both halves, Rincones recorded 165 kg to be in third position (bronze). The sport was won by the Colombian Cano with 177 kg (gold), accompanied by Reyes with 171 kg (silver), according to the Ministry of Sport press.

In the Olympic total, Rincones won the bronze medal with 306 kg. The absolute championship was in the hands of Cano with 312 kg, followed by Reyes with 311 kg (silver).

For his part, Wilkwinner Lugo, took the top of the podium at the start with 129 kg in the 65 kg senior men's division. The second place and silver medal went to the Peruvian Luis Bardalez with 128 kg, accompanied by the Ecuadorian Victor Garrido with 126 kg (bronze).

In the competition, Lugo recorded 161 kg, which earned him the silver medal, behind Bardalez with 164 kg (gold) and ahead of Garrido with 155 kg (bronze).

The Venezuelan was proclaimed runner-up in the Olympic total with 290 kg. The gold medal in the summation went to Bardalez with 292 kg, while the third rung was occupied by Garrido with 281 kg (bronze).
