British agricultural exports to the European Union (EU) fell by 37% in five years after Brexit, according to data from the National Farmers Union (NFU) released this Sunday, February 9.
'A simple reduction in trade friction does not mean that we will recover the European Union market, 'said the president of the NFU, Tom Bradshaw, stressing the magnitude of the economic damage.
For their part, local economic analysts quoted by Prensa Latina point out that this drastic contraction, particularly in sectors such as poultry farming (-37.7%), highlights the self-damaging consequences of the removal of the community block.
This reflects the failure of promises of prosperous post-Brexit trade sovereignty, prioritizing political agendas over national economic well-being.
The data confirm that the break with regional integration entails serious sectoral damage, weakening food security and the country's negotiating position.
