CARICOM honors Bolivar with floral offering on the occasion of its 52nd anniversary

On the occasion of commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, accompanied the ambassadors of the member countries of the integration mechanism, in the wreath ceremony before the sarcophagus that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon of Caracas.
The solemn ceremony began with the intonation of the glorious notes of the national anthems of Venezuela and the Caribbean Community, followed by the placement of the wreath by the Chancellor and Ambassadors of Suriname, Gustaaf Rasiman; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Gareth Bynoe; Barbados, Aquinas Clarke; Guyana, Richard Van West Charles; and the Chargé d'Affaires of Trinidad and Tobago, Dayne-Marc Chin Slick.
The activity was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Caribbean; Raúl Li Causi; ambassadors and consuls of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country, and officials of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
Caricom is an integration mechanism created on July 4, 1973, with the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, in order to consolidate the unity of its 15 member States and 5 associate members; with the objective of raising the standard of living, promoting employment and accelerating the economic development of the region, as well as promoting economic integration, foreign policy coordination and cooperation in areas such as agriculture, industry, transport and telecommunications among its member States.
