The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, said this Saturday that the people of the capital must be prepared for natural disasters that may occur in Venezuela, after the swarm of earthquakes recorded in recent days.
“Today, in compliance with the instruction of our president Nicolás Maduro, our vice president of security, Diosdado Cabello, with a step-by-step instruction in the face of any catastrophe that comes our way,” said the mayor during the Civil Protection Simulation convened by the Head of State.
He reiterated that “we have to be prepared for any contingency that comes our way, whether of nature” or in defense of the Homeland. “In this case it's an earthquake (...) another one can be a fire, any event can also happen, floods, rains,” he said.
“So today is the simulation of an earthquake here in this mayor's office and how are we going to react with all the induction that was already given to them,” Meléndez stressed.
