The Minister of Popular Power for
Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, presented this Tuesday the
agri-food experiences of Venezuela, during his participation in the 38th
Regional Conference of the United Nations Food and
Agriculture Organization for Latin America and the Caribbean (LARC 38), held in Georgetown, capital of Guyana.
In his speech, Castro Soteldo praised the advances and
achievements made by the Bolivarian Government in the production of agricultural products and animal
protein to guarantee the food sovereignty of the population, the
financing of producers and peasants, and the negative impact of the unilateral
coercive measures imposed by the United States (USA) on the development of the sector.
He explained that these illegal tools caused nutritional vulnerability in the
country, which “the Bolivarian Government has addressed
through sound policies”, to bring it to 2%. In addition, he presented
proposals to encourage the use of biocontrollers and bioinputs that
are used in the country, as well as the use of bioinoculants in native seeds, specifically those of corn.
The minister stressed
that the country has advanced towards the radical transformation of the
production model, through healthy agriculture based on the 12 vertices of the
Great AgroVenezuela Mission.
