The International Essay Competition on Fascism, Neofascism and Other Similar Expressions concluded its phase of receiving papers, which began on September 19 and ended on December 27 of this year.
According to Venezolana de Televisión, after a month and a half of the call, a specialized jury evaluates the 59 proposals received from writers of Our America.
The initiative, organized by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), the House of the Americas and the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, generates wide interest in the region.
Venezuela leads the list of participants with 27 papers, followed by Argentina with seven and Cuba with five.
The jury, comprised of leading academics and writers, must now select the best essays from a variety of perspectives and approaches. The final deliberation will take place on January 30, 2025, when the verdict will be announced through the media and social media accounts of the convening institutions.
A prize will be awarded consisting of a certificate and the amount of one thousand US dollars, plus its publication. In addition, the evaluation team will determine the honorable mentions for essays that, according to the opinion, merit disclosure in the aforementioned publication.
