Chancellor Yván Gil: Regional union is key to defending our sovereignty

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván GiL, said “regional union is key to defending our sovereignty, peace and right to life and self-determination.”

This was stated on his telegram channel, while presenting the official photo of the CELAC-EU meeting being held in Santa Marta, Colombia.

In his text, he added “in the face of the increase in military deployment in the Caribbean region and the threats facing our community, it is essential to act firmly . The 4th CELAC-EU Summit must express a unified and clear position: defend Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, rejecting any attempt at militarization on our coasts and lands.”

He added that “it is urgent to demand independent investigations into extrajudicial executions reported by UN human rights mechanisms. Only in this way will we guarantee justice and protection for our peoples.”
