Government of the People's Republic of China eliminates visa requirements for tourists from five South American countries, the measure will take effect as of June 1, 2025 and will last for one year, extending until May 31, 2026.

The announcement was made by the spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, during a press conference this Thursday, May 15. According to the official, this measure covers tourists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, which seeks to “further facilitate exchanges between peoples and promote friendly cooperation”.

This visa exemption policy aligns these South American countries with many European and Asian countries that already enjoy this benefit for short-term visits.

Citizens of these five nations will be able to enter China using their ordinary passport for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges and transit, as long as their stay does not exceed 30 days.
