This Friday, Mao Ning, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, said that the United States (US) veto of foreigners at Harvard “politicizes” education.

Educational cooperation between China and the United States “is mutually beneficial”, and Beijing “has always opposed its politicization”.

The spokeswoman, at a press conference, questioned the decision of the Donald Trump Administration to revoke the power of Harvard University to enroll international students, many of whom come from China.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a statement last Thursday that Harvard University can no longer enroll foreign students.

The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, ordered an end to the certification of that academic institution's Student and Exchange Visitor Program, a measure adopted as part of the persecution of academics and students who have reported the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
