This Tuesday, the launch of the Short Encounter: Student Cinema 2025 was announced, which will begin on June 25 and seeks to consolidate itself as a crucial space for the exhibition and recognition of emerging talent in the Venezuelan cinematographic field, aimed at students from universities and film schools, both public and private from all over the country.

As reported by the National Film Foundation (FCN) team, attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC), a total of 54 works will be presented in this edition, from 12 houses of studies, highlighting the diversity of genres and perspectives.

The selected productions include nine documentaries and five international works. The latter come from Peru (1), Uruguay (1), Ecuador (1) and Argentina (2), and it is important to note that they were created by Venezuelan students currently training in those countries.

A highlight of this meeting is that the 49 participating national short films will be shortlisted to compete in the 2nd edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival Memory and Heritage. These works will go through an official selection process to define which ones will be part of the competitive exhibition, providing an invaluable opportunity for young filmmakers.

This type of activity promotes the formation, promotion and dissemination of Venezuelan cinema and, at the same time, reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry for Culture, through the National Cinemateca Foundation, to the development of our cinematography.
