CNE: Number of candidates for 25-M had a notable increase compared to 2020-2021

The number of candidates for the elections on May 25 increased significantly compared to legislative and governor votes in 2020-2021, the National Electoral Council (CNE) said in a statement.
In the aforementioned text, the CNE explained that for these elections, 3,254 candidates were running for the National Assembly (AN) on the national list, which represents an increase of 33.73% compared to the applications of 2020-2021 when 2,143 people applied.
For the regional list of deputies to the AN, 6,881 people ran, 28% more than in 2020-2021 when 4,954 were running; 8,910 candidates were running for these votes, 24.30% more than in the previous elections when 6,744 people were included.
For the governorates, 818 candidates were running in 2021, while for these elections 859, representing an increase of 4.77%; 10,674 candidates were running for the list of Legislative Councils, 4.13% more than in 2020-2021 when there were 10,233 candidates.
As for the nominal candidates for the Legislative Councils for 2025, 6,338 candidates were submitted, 1.89% more than in 2020-2021 when there were 6,218 candidates.
In addition, the CNE reported that, until April 21, it has executed 62% of the actions established in the schedule for the votes on May 25.
