The validity of
Liberator Simon Bolivar's strategic thinking was during the colloquium “Bolivar : From the Letter of
Jamaica to the Communal Amphictiony”, held at the San Carlos Barracks in Caracas.
The meeting was organized by the Simon Bolivar
Institute for Peace and Solidarity of Peoples (ISB) and
brought together the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Alejandro López; the
president of the organization, Blanca Eekhout; and the historians Rosanna Álvarez and Carmen Bohórquez.
During the day, Bolívar's
proposals were addressed in the context of the 211th anniversary of the
Jamaican Charter and the bicentenary of the Panamanian Amphictyonic Congress, with emphasis on
his vision of relations and alliances between peoples.
Minister López pointed out that the principles
of justice, equality and fraternity are part of the political identity
promoted since the Revolution. “Unity and the practice of equality and
sovereignty are part of our political identity,” he said.
In turn, Álvarez argued that the Panamanian
Amphictyonic Congress represented the “concretization of continental consciousness” proposed in the Jamaican Charter.
