Colombia confirmed
that on January 10 it will send a representative of the government of Gustavo
Petro to the swearing in of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, before
the National Assembly (AN).
This was confirmed by the
vice-foreign minister of Colombia, Jorge Rojas Rodríguez, during statements to
Noticias Caracol.
“The
Gustavo Petro government, like many governments in the region, are going to send a
representative to the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro,” he said.
He specified that the Colombian ambassador to
Venezuela, Milton Rengifo, is
initially scheduled to attend.
However, he indicated
that President Gustavo Petro is “analyzing the situation”, and thus
determining if he decides to assign another official to attend the
swearing in of President Nicolás Maduro.
