The Colombian Foreign Ministry reported sending an Air Force plane from the Military Transport Air Command of Bogotá to San Diego, United States, to repatriate 110 Colombians in an irregular situation who are in the territory of the North American country.
This group will finally be deported to their country of origin, after President Gustavo Petro banned them from entering “handcuffs and in military planes”, which he considered a treatment of “criminals”. The head of state of the New Granada nation has insisted that air transfers be carried out in “decent” and “respectful” conditions.
On board the Colombian aircraft are migration officials, staff coordinating assistance to compatriots from the foreign ministry and medical personnel. Another plane with the same destination is expected to depart in the coming days.
