With the objective of activating community prevention brigades to combat the proliferation of the “Aedes Aegypti” mosquito, which transmits dengue, regional and municipal health authorities initiated a training process that seeks to empower citizens to lead the fight against this disease from their own homes.

The meeting brought together leaders from the Guaicaipurense communes, who received detailed information about the training process. The intention of the program is to form a brigade for each commune, which will be given the necessary implements and supplies to prevent this pathology.

Elizabeth Cardona, spokeswoman for the Supaj Ñuñu Commune, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative. “I think it's important that as organized communities we learn abatement and fumigation techniques to eliminate mosquito breeding sites within our territory.”

For his part, Mayor Farith Fraija stressed that the goal is to “break with paradigms” and urged people to take an active role in prevention, starting with the elimination of hatcheries in their homes. He stated that the fight against dengue is not just a fumigation action, but a task of constant awareness.

In Guaicaipura, the number has fallen significantly, from 265 cases in 2024 to only 23 cases so far this month.
