The National Dance Company Foundation, in collaboration with Hacienda Ibarra, Casa Cultural, announced the premiere of its show, “Root and Flight, a Joropo in Time”, with only three performances: Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 5, at 5:00 p.m.

This show by the traditional dance cast of the National Company, which will be held at Hacienda Ibarra, pays a heartfelt tribute to the national dance, at a key moment when the joropo awaits its proclamation as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The production, staged by Félix Baptista, proposes a dancetical and emotional journey into Venezuelan idiosyncrasy, explores the richness of tradition “in this way, the Venezuelan joropo is recognized as an identity element and integrator of our festivities and collective demonstrations throughout the national territory”.

Through six traditional joropos, Jorconiao, Central, Oriental, Guaribero, Andean and Llanero, the audience will witness the passing of time and the unavoidable cycles that mark us.

The presentation is also under the musical direction of maestro Oscar Lista, with the participation of the musicians of the National Dance Company and the guest musician Edwuar Bogado. The choreographies are a collaborative effort of high patrimonial value, by the teacher Juan Montoya and three outstanding dancers with a long career in the traditional dance cast: María Gómez, Ledy Rivera and Numagli Morillo.
