Cultivator Alexis De La Sierra received the title of Patrimonial Bearer of the Nation from the Institute of Cultural Heritage, due to his extensive career and invaluable contribution to the plastic arts in Venezuela.

According to the Ministry for Culture, the distinction, protected by the Patrimonial Protection and Defense Act, recognizes this artist for his “knowledge, skills, creations, techniques and practices” that enrich and keep alive the country's cultural expressions.

With a 57-year career, Alexis De La Sierra broke paradigms in three disciplines: goldsmithery, sculpture and digital painting. His work is characterized by constant innovation and research, which positions him as a forerunner of digital art worldwide since 1989.

In 1985 he founded his School of Goldsmiths, an institution that elevates this profession to an art worthy of a museum in Venezuela; in addition, his works were exhibited for the first time in national museums starting in 1987.

In the same way, his teaching contributions extended to sculpture and digital art with the creation of his Electronic and Multimedia Design Workshop in 2000.

During the course of his career, he has received awards such as the National Fire Arts Award granted by the former National Council of Culture (CONAC) in 1986, after having won the First Prize in that specialty in three consecutive editions (1980, 1981 and 1983).

His talent was also recognized internationally, as evidenced by the gold medal of the Magnus Laurentis Medici Prize he received at the International Biennial of Contemporary Arts in Florence, Italy, in 2001. Most recently, in 2023, he was awarded the Ciane National Arts Award.
