Decree on irremovable employment for 2 years

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, renewed the decree of irremovable employment for two years, as described in the extraordinary Official Gazette No. 6868 of last December 27.

The Gazette was released by the Minister of Social Labor Process, Eduardo Piñate, on his Instagram account, where he said that this decree was issued “to defend the employment stability of workers”.

According to the decree, the measure covers both public and private sector workers from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026.

Article 2 of the decree states that protected workers “may not be dismissed, disqualified or transferred without just cause qualified in advance by the Labor Inspector of the jurisdiction”.

In the event that the worker is dismissed, disadvantaged without just cause or transferred without their consent, they may report the fact to the inspector within 30 continuous days, “and request the reengagement and payment of lost wages”.
