The Executive Vice President of Venezuela and Minister of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted that BRICS+ member countries have 42% of global oil reserves, and with the entry of the Bolivarian nation, the block would have 66% of the planet's reserves.

In an interview with TeleSUR, within the framework of the 9th International Seminar of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), held in Vienna, Rodríguez pointed out that “Venezuela is a country that has been invited and our concepts already make us a BRICS country. Our geopolitical concepts of that new world that respects multilateralism, that respects the law, that respects the United Nations charter”.

“Once Venezuela joins the BRICS, 66% of the planet's reserves will be in this block (...) there are the main producers, for the first time, and there are the main consumers. It is an extraordinary space for consultation for dialogue and it is that dialogue that we promote from OPEC and from OPEC Plus,” he said.
