The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed this Monday that Venezuela is not part of the drug trafficking route to the United States (USA), a narrative that the Donald Trump administration intends to use to justify military intervention in the country.

During a conference with national and international media to show the truth about Venezuela, Rodríguez presented the evidence of the true drug trafficking route, according to data from U.S. organizations and multilateral entities such as the United Nations (UN).

“Who or who appears primarily in these reports? (...) It is a major international narcotic conflagration of which, fortunately, Venezuela is not a part. We say that with pride. Because if Venezuela has exhibited something, and not only in our numbers, but in what are called mirror figures. Not only what Venezuela says, about what is seized, about what is produced, about the cocaine that passes through Venezuela, but in the destination countries the same statistics and figures agree,” he explained.

In this regard, he recalled that only 5% intend to enter through Venezuela, and “we already have a 70% scope for the seizure and destruction of that drug that seeks to cross Venezuelan territory, which is subject to tremendous pressure across the extensive border with the world's main cocaine producer” such as Colombia.

Colombia is the first cocaine producer on the planet with 61%, Peru is the second and Bolivia is the third. What does that mean? That Venezuela is not a cocaine producing country. Second, it is not an important route relevant to the export of cocaine. There are the three producers,” he said.

He also reiterated that 87% of cocaine leaves Colombia and Ecuador to go to the United States of America. “An 8% that leaves the Colombian guajira and a 5% that leaves or tries to pass through Venezuelan territory. What is the main route for the export of cocaine? It's the Pacific,” he said

Venezuela is not responsible or the route for this drug to reach the United States of America. Venezuela, on the other hand, has given extraordinary management, an extraordinary performance to curb the pressure that exists from producing countries so that this territory does not become a territory for the transit of drugs or for their cultivation or for their collection,” he emphasized.
