The president of the Standing Committee on Economy, Finance and National Development and member of the National Assembly (AN), Jesús Fanía, pointed out that any foreign company that wants to work in Venezuela must act under national laws and not rely on licenses or permits from a third country.

“The fact that foreign companies are working and operating in our country based on authorizations or licenses from a foreign nation violates the entire international legal framework. No country can do that; but when there are imperial powers that abrogate powers that do not belong to them, of course arrogance is imposed and laws are kicked out,” Faria said during an interview on a program on a national private television channel.

Referring to the case of the transnational oil company Chevron, he stressed that the US company is threatened and “that is already a matter with the US government, absolutely unacceptable. Whether they leave or stay is already a decision for them to make. Since they came to our country, they accepted our legal standard, the agreement, the business scheme that was proposed to them and that is why they are here.”
