The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reaffirmed that revolutionary forces are not divided by candidates, referring to the fact that for the selection of candidates, the number of nominations made by the rank and file is respected, among other things.

“The right wing is beginning to speculate: 'Division in Chavismo'; no, Chavism is not divided by a candidacy, Chavism is a strength, it is an indivisible force at this point,” Cabello said at a PSUV press conference.

He pointed out that revolutionaries “are not here for office (...) we lost (Hugo) Chávez who was our greatest strength and Chávez's order was: Unity, Struggle, Battle and Victory; and we are carrying it out”.

He pointed out that, if sectors of the right wing wanted anything, it was the division of the revolutionary forces with the departure of the Commander. “I would be partying, as they party in other countries; so those who are behind these demonstrations, underground, are doing it for a particular purpose and we are in a great collective movement and not an individual one,” he said.

He reaffirmed that, despite these incidents, the process has been carried out “without news, respectful of established rules and respectful of the task entrusted, and that allows us to have candidates in mayors and councilors.”
