Venezuelan fishermen are tireless workers, parents of families, so it is outrageous that they are intended to be linked to illegal activities, said the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
“Here, if we defend them (the fishermen), it seems that they do not forgive our fishermen who have left our shores to demonstrate against any action against Venezuela. They don't forgive those from Chuao for capturing Gideon's mercenaries,” said Cabello, while recalling that the terrorists of Operation Gideon tried to enter the country using the same route that criminal gangs used for drug trafficking.
He also rejected the position of support of the government of Trinidad and Tobago for the operations that the United States maintains in the Caribbean under the excuse of combating drug trafficking, while asserting that these military actions not only put Venezuelans but also the fishermen of that Caribbean island at risk.
In the same way, he stressed that if the United States wishes to combat the transfer of drugs to its territory, it must mobilize its troops to the Pacific Ocean, where 87% of the drugs produced in Colombia pass.
