Social media users gave up unscheduled blackouts in Quito, Ecuador.
“Outage in the Armenian sector, Conocoto Bajo, near the Guangopolo plant. Quito (...) Remember that there should no longer be cuts,” said user Alejandro Almeida in X.
Netizens placed the label “Unprogrammed” in which they expressed their dissatisfaction with the administration of Daniela Noboa's government, reports the Sputnik news agency.
The energy crisis in Ecuador has had a significant impact on the country's economy. According to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Juan Carlos Vega, the crisis could represent a loss of between 1% and 1.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to approximately $1.188 million to $1,782.6 million.
In addition, the commercial and industrial sector has suffered millions of dollars in losses, with a total of $7.5 billion.
