Ernesto Villegas appointed head of the National Cinematography Center

President Nicolás Maduro Moros appointed Ernesto Villegas Poljak as the new president of the National Autonomous Center for Cinematography (CNAC).
The designation, by presidential decree, was published in Official Gazette No. 43.18 on Friday, August 1, 2025. Villegas will hold the presidency of the CNAC simultaneously with the position of Minister of Popular Power for Culture.
The journalist assumes his new responsibility at the hands of the filmmaker Carlos Azpúrua, who had been in office since 2021.
In this regard, through his account on the social network Instagram, Villegas announced that he visited the headquarters of the CNAC, in Los Ruices, to hold a meeting with Azpúrua. In addition, he took the opportunity to share with the institution's staff.
During the meeting, he recognized the role played by Azpurua in recent years, as well as that of the CNAC team, which he asked to keep in place all the ongoing processes in favor of Venezuelan cinema, especially the projects of the “Learning by Doing” program.
