FANB seized supplies used for illegal mining in Amazonas

During river patrolling work by the indigenous community of San Antonio, in the Atabapo municipality, in the state of Amazonas, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) detected and seized logistical support supplies for illegal mining.

The Strategic Operational Commander (CEO) of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, explained, through a post on his Instagram account, that during the aforementioned action, the uniformed personnel seized: 800 liters of gasoline stored in 4 drums; 8 13HP motor pumps; 8 4-inch PVC plastic tubes; 500 meters of 4-inch high-pressure hose; 31 engine belts; 8 batteries of motor oil; 16 demolishing hammers; 1 150cc motorcycle; 2 200cc quadbikes; 1 metal detector; 20 mining shovels; 192 liters of diesel engine oil; 90 liters of motorcycle oil; 1 chainsaw; 5 sieve-type carpets; 1 hydrojet; 7 aluminum spikes for 2-inch high-pressure hoses; 4 snails; 5 snail couplings; 3 rope rolls of 100 meters each.

The procedure was placed under the order of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

“In the state of Amazonas, according to our sovereign legal system, all types of mining and hydrocarbon exploitation are prohibited, it is an area under a special protection regime, there will be no reasoning or excuse to commit crimes, the law is the law,” said the senior military official.
