The 4th International Progressive Theater Festival (FITP) 2025 culminated this Sunday in the Plaza la Juventud in Caracas with the staging of the successful show “Peter Pan”, by Grupo Puja de España, whose attractive aerial scenographic display captivated hundreds of spectators present.

The closing of this edition was accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas; the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov; the director of the National Theater Company (CNT) and the FITP, Carlos Arroyo, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.

Villegas thanked the State institutions that made possible the success of this performing arts event and announced the holding of the National Theatre Festival 2025. “The year 2025 is not one festival, but two, and the Venezuelan performing arts will be the protagonists of this call,” he said.

In addition, he reported that Mexico will be the guest country of honor at the 5th edition of the FITP in 2026. In this regard, the ambassador of that country, Leopoldo De Gyves, thanked this gesture of recognition and solidarity, confirming the presence of Mexican theatrical proposals for next year.

Villegas presented a statuette representing FITP 2025 to the director of the play “Peter Pan”, Luciano Trevignani, and praised the quality of this scenic proposal. At the same time, he thanked Russia for participating as a country honored in the festival and recalled the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army of the Soviet Union over Nazism.

“All of humanity is grateful for the sacrifice of the Russian people to end Nazi-Fascism 80 years ago. It's quick to say, but 26 million Soviets sacrificed their lives to rid humanity of that opprobrium. We are proud to welcome the Moscow Art Theater to this festival with a magnificent Russian performance. The doors are open to all peoples of the world because Venezuela fights precisely for diversity,” he stressed.
