The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil Pinto, in his speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) urged the international community to take the necessary actions to end the cycle of impunity committed by Israel.

In this regard, he invited “to redouble all international efforts to move effectively and immediately towards a necessary process of accountability for all crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power against the Peoples of Palestine, Lebanon and other nationalities”, while noting that the world “expects all relevant mechanisms of international justice to play a responsible role in ending the prevailing cycle of impunity that has not nothing more than to embolden the Israeli regime to perpetuate itself over time”.

He recalled that “there is no legal, moral or political justification for the indiscriminate killing of civilians, including women, girls and boys; nor is there any legal or moral basis for blocking United Nations efforts aimed at preventing further bloodshed and ending the blockade on the Gaza Strip.”

“The time has come for the United Nations Security Council to adopt a resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire, respected by all parties, allowing humanitarian access in a coherent and secure manner (...) We also call on the international community to take effective measures to compel Israel, the occupying power, to adhere to international law.”

The head of Diplomatic Relations expressed Venezuela's determination to “not allow the violence unleashed by Israel to normalize” and demanded “once again that the government of the United States of America in its capacity as a permanent member of the Security Council put aside its political calculations (...) being complicit is not an option”.
