The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, thanked the Egyptian ambassador to Venezuela, Kareem Amin, for an invitation to celebrate Egypt's National Day, which is celebrated every year on July 23 in memory of the Revolution of 1952.
On his Telegram channel, Gil celebrated the tribute to the African country for his role as a special guest at the International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN) 2025, open to the people in the spaces of the National Art Gallery (GAN) and the Plaza de la Juventud.
In a review of Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Gil stated that “Egypt will celebrate 73 years of independence on July 23. We are very happy to accompany your ambassador to remember that great leader Abdelgamed Nasser, who fought against colonialism and put an end to the monarchy.”
He also specified that in this year 2025, both nations celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
“Egypt is a great partner on the oil issue, a great articulator with Venezuela of the policies of the Global South, partners in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC),” he said.
He noted that Caracas and Cairo explore areas that “go beyond what we have already developed, agriculture, for example. Egypt is an agricultural power, a country capable of contributing a lot to the growth of Venezuela”, in terms of food sovereignty.
Gil also valued that Egypt rejects Zionist aggressions against the Palestinian people and that, under the leadership of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdelfatah Al-Sisi, they proclaim a more just world.
The diplomatic reception also celebrated the visit of Egypt's Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouaf Abdelsalam Hanno, who heads his country's delegation participating in the XXI FILVEN 2025.
