The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported that he held a meeting with the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations (UN), in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla, to whom he requested, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, support for Venezuelan migrants kidnapped in El Salvador.

In his account on the social network Telegram, he noted that “we share the deep concern of the Bolivarian Government about the serious violation of human rights faced by Venezuelan migrants in the United States, who are being persecuted and detained without justification.”

“In this context, we highlight that there are currently 238 compatriots kidnapped in El Salvador, a situation that evokes the persecution suffered by the Jewish population during Nazism, as well as the current humiliations faced by the Palestinian people at the hands of the Zionists,” he said.

Gil also said that “we emphasize to Rampolla the urgency for the United Nations system to mobilize to address and respond to this unacceptable barbarism.”
