In the framework of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), which is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Monday with his counterpart from the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, to ratify the historic ties of friendship.
“On this occasion, we reaffirm our brotherhood and mutual solidarity as nations committed to defending their sovereignty, self-determination and the truth of our peoples,” said the Venezuelan diplomat through his Telegram channel, after meeting with his Cuban counterpart.
Bilateral relations between Caracas and Havana were strengthened with the beginning of the Bolivarian Revolution in 1999. Since then, both peoples have deepened the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation in various areas, such as health, education, energy and tourism.
On October 30, 2000, they signed a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement that in 25 years has made it possible to conclude mutually beneficial agreements in strategic areas, for political, economic and social development.
