FVF announces Venezuelan Super Cup for the month of March

The Venezuelan Football Federation announced the creation of the third title for which only two teams will compete: The Venezuelan Super Cup. A new competition for our football that will be played between the absolute champion of the League and the Venezuela Cup.

“This is an idea that fills us with great satisfaction, since it opens up new spaces for competitiveness and for our teams to have new instances to play and fight for titles,” said Manuel de Oliveira, Executive Director of the Futve League, quoted by the specialized press. “This will be a new highly competitive space for the internal and external development of our football,” said the leader.

The format of this tournament in this first edition will be played by Deportivo Táchira, champion of the Futve League, against Deportivo La Guaira, champion of the Venezuela Cup. For this match and the ones to come, the final is expected to be at the stadium of the winning club of the La Liga. In this case, it will be at the Pueblo Nuevo stadium on March 22 at 5:45 p.m.

For future editions, the format may undergo certain modifications and adapt to the European style used by the Spanish or Italian leagues, where the Super Cup is played in a semifinal and final format.
