Gabriela Jiménez: We have purchased more than 20 linear accelerators and tomographs for the diagnosis of cancer

Venezuela, despite the economic blockade imposed by North American imperialism, has acquired more than 20 linear accelerators and tomographs for the diagnosis of cancer, said the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriel Jiménez.

The announcement was made during a training day for health personnel who will participate in the National Cancer Registry, where he highlighted the efforts of the National Government to guarantee the health of the people.

“We want epidemiological data to reside in Venezuela because they are data from Venezuelans. There is confidentiality, traceability, transparency, it must be auditable and it must respect patient privacy,” he emphasized.

In addition, according to a press release from the Science and Technology portfolio, the also sector vice-president for Science, Technology and Health, reported that 98% of cancer-related diagnoses are made in the Public Health System.
