The National Art Gallery (GAN) hosted the pictorial intervention of the artist and photographer, Rodrigo Benavides, who, through an artistic presentation, honored the 50th anniversary of the Ayacucho Library.

This cultural proposal was made as a prelude to the photographer's next exhibition, Orinoco-Junín-Ayacucho: Our American Crossroads and Metaphors 1824-2024. This exhibition will invite spectators on a historic journey through the Battle of Junín and the Battle of Ayacucho, in its current bicentenary since this independence feat.

“For me it is a pleasure to be able to take advantage of the 50 years of the Ayacucho Library to perform this performance in situ. This library is essential for Latin American and Caribbean literature. For this reason, I took advantage of the date of its creation to hold this historical-pictorial meeting,” Benavides said.

The artist responsible for materializing the activity affirmed the theme that inspired him to return to painting. “I was 30 years old and I didn't know what it was to hold a brush. I'm not a painter, I lean towards photography, but this Ayacucho theme has me quite moved and has led me to repaint a free painting representing this iconic battle,” he said.
