GAN will extend tribute to the teacher Juan Calzadilla

The Deputy Minister of Image and Space Arts, Mary Pemjean, reported that the Homage to the master Juan Calzadilla will remain longer in the spaces of the National Art Gallery (GAN).

“We paid tribute to Juan Calzadilla with an exhibition that we inaugurated at the International Book Fair 2025 (FILVEN) and that will remain open beyond it,” he said.

Pemjean also stressed that in this tribute they had the opportunity to count on the presence of the family of the great master Juan Calzadilla, “very moved, because Juan's work is undoubtedly extraordinary in literature and plastic arts”.

She stressed that this teacher is and will continue to be present in Venezuelan culture, “because his work is in everything, and it's very nice to be able to pay homage to him,” said the vice-minister, adding that this extension will give an opportunity to learn about all his works that until “now there are 65 works and publications, because Juan Calzadilla's ability to create was incredible (...) and will last from generation to generation”.

The poet, visual artist and art critic, Juan Calzadilla, was an invaluable legacy for the cultural identity of the country that lived intensely and left behind at every moment a work of art and a poem that enriched the nation's history.
