The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that, since October 10, Israel has restricted the entry of trucks with medicines, because it has allowed only 60, a figure that contrasts with the 600 daily vehicles provided for in the truce agreement.

Local authorities and United Nations representatives have emphasized that the lack of medical supplies and the delay in evacuating patients aggravate the health situation. Recent reports indicate that 900 people have died and that up to 16,500 could face the same fate if exit authorizations are not accelerated. The World Health Organization (WHO) has specified that 4000 children need immediate care, according to a press release from Telesur.

Munir Al-Barsh, director general of the Ministry of Health, has reported that the shortage of supplies keeps hospitals with 10% of available medicines. Of the 38 existing centers, 25 are out of service and 13 are only partially operational. Hospital occupancy exceeded 225 percent in October.

The health sector is also facing the loss of personnel: 1,701 workers have been killed in two years and 362 are still in detention or missing. In the last 24 hours, there have been two deaths and three injured by attacks, in addition to 15 bodies recovered. The balance since October 7, 2023 is 69,483 dead and 170,706 injured.

Al-Barsh highlighted that 860 pharmacies have been destroyed and that drugs arrive in minimal quantities to the private sector, causing an increase in prices.

The WHO has completed 119 evacuation missions, but thousands of patients still do not have access to medical care. International organizations reiterated the need to allow the immediate entry of medical aid to prevent more deaths and stop the deterioration of health conditions in Gaza.
