This Saturday, November 08, the ALBA ship Manuel Gual sailed from the International Port of La Guaira with more than 5 thousand tons of humanitarian aid destined for the Cuban people, recently affected by Hurricane Melissa in the eastern region of the island.
The executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Rander Peña, reported that the shipment includes 102 containers containing food, medicines, utensils and toys, as part of an action coordinated by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
“These are the ships that leave Venezuela and sail the Caribbean Sea, ships full of solutions, hope and life, go all our infinite love always, which is Commander Hugo Chávez's love for Fidel, the love of son to father,” he said.
The event was attended by Venezuelan authorities and representatives of the regional bloc, who stressed that, despite external pressure, Venezuela maintains its commitment to solidarity.
For his part, the Cuban ambassador to Venezuela, Jorge Luis Mayo, expressed the “eternal gratitude of the Cuban people for that Bolivarian generosity that you have had.”
This maritime shipment is in addition to the 26 tons of aid that arrived in Cuba on October 30 aboard a CONVIASA aircraft to strengthen the humanitarian bridge between the two nations.
