Some 2,700 tons of garbage were collected by the Zulia Oeste Plan, promoted by Governor Luis Caldera, within 15 days of its launch, with the purpose of dignifying public spaces and ensuring healthier environments for Zulians

The plan addresses, in addition to the collection of solid waste, afforestation and the promotion of an environmental culture in nine parishes in Maracaibo. The first works were concentrated in the Francisco Eugenio Bustamante parish, specifically on the Hugo Chávez road corridor, where crews composed of more than 60 workers carry out manual cleaning tasks, accompanied by heavy machinery.

Sanitation made it possible to collect accumulated garbage, which for years affected the mobility and health of the area, according to a press release from the government.
