Governor of Amazonas: Parliamentary elections for indigenous peoples are an example of democracy for the world

The governor of the state of Amazonas, Miguel Rodríguez, described as an example of democracy for the world the electoral process carried out by indigenous peoples, this Sunday, June 1st.
In that regard, he explained that these elections are possible thanks to “our Constitution and our Government, which respect the customs of our indigenous peoples,” and added that the candidates were elected first in their communities
He also indicated that “we have only come to accompany them, to give them our embrace and to tell them that we respect the customs of the original peoples.”
“It's an example for the world of what true democracy is, that's an example for what we're building in Venezuela,” he said.
